So last year really kinda kicked my ass emotionally...and this year isn't much better yet.
Let's run down some things: calling it "Fuck you life!"
June 25th i get an email saying my marriage is over...but she will have to live with me until she finds a place.
End of September she finally moves out.
July my nephew moves in and i think it's gonna be great, but he has problems with chemicals and makes for a hard person to live with.
August i join an online dating site and talk to a few ladies. I meet one on September 8th, fall madly and don't meet someone else i probably should have. Ignore a ton of red flags from her and from me (ie. things I know I wouldn't be comfortable with once emotions got involved)
Two days after Christmas i get another email from the girlfriend breaking up with me. Classy. Hey ladies, grow a pair and break up with us in person.
I see her that Sunday, we "talk" watch Doctor Who and "talk" some more...that's the last I see of her. It was good closure, but I'm still bitter about things and I start questioning the honesty of the relationship...because I'm like Cusack in High Fidelity.
I get bitter and snarky and she unfriends me on friendface.
Since then I have been pretty good with forgetting about her. I have found out things that kinda hurt, but I am moving on.
I jumped back onto the dating site and met an awesome lady who I am now pretty good friends with. She's a fucking blast to hang out with and has some really cool friends. She also knows my friend Ron, and we've seen a few shows together.
We're gonna break her board game cherry soon!
At times I don't know if i really care for a relationship right now, but I am optimistic. We'll see. No settling though, I've done enough of that with past relationships!
As of yesterday, my nephew moved out into an apartment with his girlfriend. I hope they make it work, because they are a cute couple. And I wish them all the best of luck.
We had a really good talk about a week ago, and i can say that I still love him with all my heart. Nothing that has happened while living together will ever change that.
Which leads me to the new predicament ...no roommate!
Well one guy was gonna move in, but he got flaky and I 'm glad he's not moving in now.
So I was gonna struggle to pay bills and make it work, hoping to find a new roommate soon, but not counting on it.
Today i get a call from my friend who i met while working at the booze shop and he asks if I'm gaming today?
I tell him "No, I'm going to Into the Void records in St. Paul, because i have blood money to use for a last music spree before the first of March, because i don't have a roommate...are you looking for a place?"
He says "Yeah, I think I am."
Things aren't set in stone, but i think he'll be a great roommate. He's a gamer and we like a lot of the same music.
So i should know 100 % by the end of this week. Wish me luck.
Onto cool things:
We have done 18 Careers in Evil podcasts! Which you can find here
And this is number 18 : here
I am super "stoked" to do more, but I've been fairly busy lately.
And as for my last music spree...I got:
Four Ancestors cds
three Lord Weird Slough Feg cds
Graveyard cd!
And residing currently in the "where are they now" file:
Waves of Mercury has one song complete. One song that is about 90% complete vocally and two other songs that are at about 20% complete with vocals.
Fairly Secret Army has 7 songs that need lyrics and vocals for the "roughing up the Suspect" album and one of the two songs of the "Gathering Horses" single has 90% of the vocals finished.
All the music for these projects are complete, just waiting for that silly singer!
The project with Tanya and Grayson has one song with drums and bass...she has lyrics and melodies, but nothing else has happened since than. You know, break ups, work, sickness, life, cd releases and other recordings all got in the way...?
I am hoping that the rest of the year is good and i will be writing here more.
...are you happy Ben?

Update Winter 2012
It has been a long time since I've posted anything on this...obviously!
In the music world:
We last recorded and put up downloads of "That's the Ticket" and "The mountain Man"
on bandcamp.
Currently we are working on TFSA "Roughing up the Suspect" which is an 8 song album. It only needs vocals, but I also have to write lyrics too...for all 8 songs!
There is also another two songs (maybe after Monday Nov 19th it will be three!) that will be an ep called "All the kings horses." It was going to be a new album that is more acoustic, but we had to cancel a lot in the last few months, so ep it is!
One song has almost all the vocals finished, but the other needs lyrics still.
As for Waves of Mercury, Antony Johnson http://www.antonyjohnston.com/
wrote all the lyrics and they are wonderful! If you have not read his work on Wasteland, Coldest city, Queen & Country or a bunch of other things, check his stuff out!
This is four songs that we decided should loosely have a Seasons theme.
I have recorded vocals on two songs, and partial vocals on the last two.
This album is heavy! A lot heavier than even "The Great Darkness" and has a very doomy feel (like My Dying Bride) to it.
In the personal world:
Greg is having a baby! Well, not him, but his wife is!
It's a boy, and the working name for him right now is "Boris"
He won't tell me the real name.
The child will be here before Christmas and the "Army" will be put on hold for a few months...lucky I have so many songs to sing.
David in the last five months :
Getting a divorce.
His nephew Philip moved in.
Working new jobs.
And met a new and absolutely awesome woman that he is smitten with. :)
We hope 2013 is awesome for us and all of you!

We started "Roughing up the Suspect" tonight...
...um, yeah, that does sound bad.
We have all the music recorded for the first song on the next Fairly Secret Army ep!
It kinda sounds like it would go along well with the three on the Mountain Man ep, so we really like it!
After we were finished recording the instruments, Greg said, "It's good to be back to the Fairly Secret Army"
And although I really like the new Waves of Mercury songs so far, I will have to agree...It's good to be back to the army!

WAVES OF MERCURY...goes DOOM!
So we have four songs with at least drums and guitars recorded for the new Waves of Mercury cd.
It was gonna be four new songs, then the "Oceans Trilogy", but I think we're going to have the Oceans trilogy be it's own ep.
As of now, our plan is to have four new songs and a surprise cover song (Antony, you will like our choice)
ok, gotta go!

"Pursuit of Heaviness" is now going to be the new six song Waves of Mercury album!
We decided that the songs were really too serious for The Fairly Secret Army...or at least I did...at least for a full ep that's all metal, it just works better as Waves of Mercury.
And when I asked Greg about making it a Waves of Mercury ep, he suggested that we record the Oceans Trilogy along with it.
So we will re-record those three songs from the Thousand Suns cd and in the future we will re-record all of the rest of the Thousand Suns songs for another Waves of Mercury cd.
Now I have to write metal lyrics! OH DRAT!

Fairly Secret Update...?
We now have a final mix of the third FSA album "That's the Ticket" and the first e.p. "Mountain Man"
There will be two versions of the ep, one on an 80 minute cd with the three songs AND the first hour of the interview.
And
A digipak version on a 24 minute minidisc. It will have the three songs and two of them as instrumentals and a bonus track called "Tom Bombadil"
"That's the Ticket" will be on bandcamp soon.
"Mountain Man" will be on bandcamp, but only the three songs with vocals and Tom Bombadil will be on bandcamp.
We are two songs into the next ep "The Pursuit of Heaviness!"
We have everything but the vocals for the first song, and drums and half the guitars for the second song.
If I thought the first song sounded like MY Dying Bride, the second one sounds like we stole riffs and harmonies right from under them!
For the third ep, "Roughing up the Suspect", Greg wants to switch what we do...he would sing and play drums and I would play guitar and bass!
It's gonna be a nightmare...and we'll record it for posterity.
